This adventure begins in Antigua Guatemala, where participants board a shared 4×4 off-road vehicle that travels toward a private farm located on the slopes of Acatenango Volcano.
From there, the 4×4 off-road ascent continues up the volcano until reaching a point known as “El Tonel”, located at approximately 90% of Acatenango’s altitude. From this point the hiking portion of the expedition begins.
Participants hike to Basecamp, where they will spend the night with a direct view of the active Volcán de Fuego. In the evening guests enjoy a warm dinner and campfire while witnessing the spectacular eruptions of lava and ash illuminating the night sky.
The following morning begins with the final ascent to the summit of Acatenango, where hikers experience an unforgettable sunrise above the clouds with panoramic views of Guatemala’s volcanic chain.
After enjoying the summit views, the group descends back to Basecamp before returning to Antigua Guatemala.

Your journey kicks off in Antigua Guatemala, where you'll board a rugged 4x4 vehicle specially equipped to handle the mountain terrain. Enjoy a scenic ride as you ascend through diverse landscapes toward the volcano’s Basecamp.
Reach Basecamp, located at approximately 3,500 meters above sea level. Take in the panoramic views and acclimate to the elevation while preparing for an optional hike or simply enjoying the surrounding nature.

After returning from the hike or resting at Basecamp, enjoy a light dinner and hot beverages. Spend the evening around the camp, soaking in the glow of Fuego's eruptions and preparing for the summit hike.
Climb under the stars to witness a breathtaking sunrise
Begin your ascent to the summit of Acatenango (3,976 m a.s.l.) in the early hours. The hike takes roughly 1.5 hours and rewards you with a stunning sunrise above the clouds and panoramic views of the volcanic range.
A moment you'll never forget
Reach the summit just in time to watch the sun rise behind distant volcanoes. On a clear day, you’ll witness the incredible sight of Volcán de Fuego erupting in the early morning light.
Refuel before the descent
Return to Basecamp to enjoy a simple but hearty breakfast and one last hot beverage. Take in the views and relax after an unforgettable morning.
Hike back and ride to Antigua
Take a short 30-minute descent to your 4x4 vehicle. From there, enjoy a final scenic ride back to Antigua Guatemala.
Tour ends – memories begin
Arrive back in Antigua with unforgettable memories, photos, and the satisfaction of having conquered one of Guatemala’s most iconic volcanoes.
The tour includes moderate hiking but most of the elevation gain is covered by the 4x4 vehicle.
Basic physical condition is recommended but the hike is shorter than the traditional Acatenango expedition.
